This beer was brought by Nicole’s cousin (the beer lover). We were discussing how we’ve been getting into different beers lately, and his new love has been IPAs, which is why he brought this to share.
(Pictured above is the old label, the new one is much nicer)
ABV: 6.5%
Style: American Pale Ale
Trivia: River Horse is brewed in Lambertville, NJ, which is on the western side of the state, across the river from New Hope, PA (an artsy town which is very nice).
Random: I’ve got another River Horse beer lined up to try this week, so this was a pleasant surprise.
I poured this beer into a pint glass and it poured with a one finger white head with visible carbonation. It was a golden/orange color and had some lacing on the glass. On the nose, there was a lot of hops, but not much else. It has a bit of an earthy quality to it. The taste is definitely filled with hops, but not overwhelming. Given that the beer was called “hop hazard,” I thought it would hit me more with hops. The finish is slightly bitter. Overall, the beer is very pleasant and one I would have again if someone handed it to me, but the name is a little misleading.
