After spending the day brewing beer (this was my birthday present from Nic), we stopped at a local bar and grill to have lunch. The bar boasted having 30 beers on tap, but there wasn’t much that was intriguing. It annoys me when a place advertises the number of taps they have as a way to say they have craft beers. If 27 taps are macros, it doesn’t help. I went to a bar last night that said that the special of the night was $3 craft beers. I asked what craft beers they had and the waiter looked at me like I was crazy. I’ve had the beer before and enjoyed it, but I’ve never had it on tap.
ABV: 5.3%
Style: American Amber / Red Lager
Trivia: This beer won gold at the 2006 World Beer Cup.
Random: I’m watching Steel Magnolias and I love Dolly Parton more and more.
This beer poured with a one finger white head that left moderate lacing on the glass. The body was a clear golden brown color with visible carbonation. On the nose, there was a hint of sweetness/malt but not much else. On the first sip, there is some smooth butteriness to it, and then a bit of nuttiness. There is also some carbonation on the taste. The finish lingers for a bit. The thickness of the beer is perfect. It’s an easy sessionable beer. There’s nothing remarkable about it, but it goes down easy and has a nice bit of flavor to it. I would have this again.
