The last beer of the night at Parc. I had read a bunch of great reviews about this brew and had it on my list to try. It didn’t hurt that the bottle looked pretty cool too.
Trivia: According to Unibroue’s website, “To this date, La Fin du Monde has earned more medals and awards, including some of the world’s highest honors, than any other Canadian beer.”
Random: Nicole thought that this was a Belgian beer. Actually, it’s Canadian
As I said before, I’ve heard a lot of great things about this brew. La Fin Du Monde basically translates to “the end of the world.” Interesting name for a brew. It was served in a bottle and poured into a glass. It poured a cloudy orange color with visible carbonation. On the nose, I get mandarin oranges and despite the fact that I thought I was crazy, Nicole agreed. On the first sip, I got some citrus with no bitterness. Despite the 9% ABV, the booze was well hidden, making this an almost dangerous brew. I also got some lemon. The carbonation helps with the drinkability, but it is very velvety and goes does with no problem. This is definitely a sipping beer. I also found that it had a hint of spice. In my notes, I kept putting words like “pleasant,” “wonderful” and “amazing.” I also kept saying it after every sip. This beer is well-balanced and easily at the top of my personal favorite list. If you haven’t tried this, do yourself a favor and go get it. You won’t be sorry.
