Get ready for a lot of posts. I went to Victory Brewing earlier today and did a flight of 10 beers and took notes on all of them. Pictures from the brewery tour are up on my facebook. The posts may not be as long as you’re used to, but I’m going to do separate posts on every brew, which will probably result in sore fingers. Also, I didn’t take pictures of the brews, so you’re going to have to deal with a lot of stock photos.
Style: Saison/Farmhouse Ale
Trivia: According to the website, this beer is “brewed with parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.”
Random: Nicole actually enjoys this beer, to the point that we purchased a growler of it.
As any of you who follow the blog will know, I tried the Stone version of this early last week. I did like it, but it was very spicy. We got a pint of this brew before we went on the Victory tour. This brew poured with a two finger white head with a golden-yellow body with visible carbonation. There were spices on the nose, like rosemary and sage, but I didn’t pick up too much parsley. On the taste, it was very similar to the Stone version, but a touch more subdued. I got spice (rosemary, sage) on the taste, but in much less quantity than the last time I tried it. There was also some citrus on the taste like oranges and lemons. The finish was slightly “herby,” but as Nicole said, not nearly as herbaceous as the Stone. I liked this beer more than the Stone. It was a little more accessible than the Stone one and I would definitely have it again.
