Best Brews January 2011

January was my first full month back to reviewing beers. I was really trying to do a beer a night, but unfortunately I felt short. I did 28 for January instead of 31. This means that I’ll have to pull double duty for a few days to catch up. I had a lot of great brews during the month of January. Here they are.

1. Allagash Curieux

Really complex tripel that picked up a lot of flavors from the aging in the bourbon barrels.

2. Harpoon Leviathan – Imperial IPA

This was just a wonderful DIPA. Since trying it, I’ve had it about 3 or 4 times on draft.

3. Terrapin Wake and Bake Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout

What’s not to like about this? Coffee, oatmeal and stouty goodness.

4. Ramstein Winter Wheat

A definite treat for the winter, especially on draft.

5. Great Divide Old Ruffian Barley Wine

Reminded me a lot of DFH Olde School. Great winter brew!

Honorable Mention: Jolly Pumpkin Noel De Calabaza
