Opa Opa Honesty 47 Pale Ale

I know that I’m going out of order yet again, in terms of the beers that I should be drinking. But, I got a growler of this brew after tasting it at the brewpub and I wanted to drink it while it was nice and fresh. Plus, I think it will go down nice and easy while I’m watching the season finale of Criminal Minds. I seriously love this show. Anyways, onto the beer.

ABV: 5.4%

Style: American Pale Ale

Trivia: This brew was a silver medal at the Great International Beer Festival in 2007.

Random: One of my buddies slept with a kitchen knife under his pillow after watching an episode of this show.

This brew poured a clear golden-reddish color with some visible carbonation. The head was about a finger high, pure-white and after dissipating, left some lacing on the glass. The nose presented with a bit of citrus, specifically lemon and grapefruit with a bit of hops. But, the taste isn’t as hoppy as the nose would make one assume. Instead, the citrus comes up front and then a decent bit of malt comes through. It was almost sweet at the end with a little bit of nuttiness too, although it was very subtle. The sweetness continued into the finish. This was a solid beer, although it didn’t pull any surprises. It was crisp and refreshing and went down nice and easy. I could see killing a few of these at a barbecue. It will definitely not be a challenge to kill the growler. If you’re in Massachusetts and can try this, definitely do so.

Untappd Rating: 4.0/5.0
