It’s finally Friday! It was another one of those crazy weeks, but today just dragged. Plus, my neighbor’s dog kept me up all night, so I really didn’t sleep well. This meant that I had to constantly caffeinate myself throughout the day. Plus, I had to do a training class at work, so I was just excited to get out. I came home and for the first time in forever actually took a nap. I watched a few episodes of Best Thing I Ever Ate and had dinner, and now it’s beer review time. After this, I’m going to save the world and play some Call of Duty.
ABV: 9.2%
Style: Baltic Porter
Trivia: This beer was brewed in honor of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson.
Random: I seriously have to get on Christmas shopping. I am so behind.
This brew poured with a two finger tan head that took forever to dissipate and left a lot of lacing on the glass. The body was a dark black with no visible carbonation due to the color. The nose was filled with coffee and a bit of chocolate. I was a bit surprised that I didn’t get any noticeable booze since the ABV was so high. The taste started with a bit of coffee, but it wasn’t as intense as in the nose. It transitioned into some slight bitterness. There really wasn’t a whole lot of chocolate in the taste. The booze was also really hidden, making this an incredibly dangerous beer. The mouthfeel was very smooth and the finish was relatively quick and lingered with a bit of coffee. This was definitely enjoyable and I would have this again.
