Today was a pretty busy day for me. I woke up a little on the late side (probably as a result of not getting home until 0300 the previous night) and then made breakfast with my sister. She made this amazing sausage, egg and cheese biscuits. Then, the rest of the day was pretty much beer related. I finally bottled the 2 five gallon batches that have been sitting way too long in the laundry room. One is Super Meow Raspberry (a raspberry wheat beer for Katie and my sister) and the other one I’m calling Snack Meow (a spiced chocolate stout). I haven’t brewed a stout before, so I’m interested in seeing how it came out. I’ll probably talk a little more about the beers in the next post. But, I can’t wait to pop this one open and see if it’s just as good as the 2011 version…
Style: American Double/Imperial IPA
Trivia: This bad boy packs 100 IBUs. I think I’m going to be a happy hop head.
Random: I found this guy just hanging out by himself in one of the micro singles coolers in Cranbury Buy Rite. I couldn’t believe that no one had picked it up yet.
This brew poured with a thick, three finger, white head into my Flying Fish tulip glass. It dissipated slowly and left significant lacing on the glass. The body was a cloudy orange color with moderate visible carbonation despite the cloudiness. The nose was amazing. I got lots of hops and grapefruit and pine with a hint of malt at the end. The taste was just as good as the nose. I got the hops and fresh grapefruit, coupled with grass. There was also a healthy dose of pine and the malt really balanced it out. The body was heavy with moderate carbonation. Wow, this was just as amazing as last year’s. I’ll continue to search this one out.
