This was the second brew of the night. For some reason, when I purchased this brew, I thought that it was German. Yeah, no. It’s Belgian. Oh well. I’ve never heard of this beer either, but this brewery also makes Petrus, which I’m familiar with. I haven’t had a fruit lambic in almost a year. Wow, definitely time for a revisit.
Style: Lambic – Fruit
Trivia: According to glunzbeers.com, “A blend of regular Wittekerke, the best Belgian wheat beer, with 10% of the purest Raspberry fruit. This beer offers a unique combination of refreshing sweetness and exploding fruitiness. A perfectly balanced beer.”
Random: I’m obsessed with my foam roller. After a rough day at the gym, it almost feels like a deep tissue massage.
The brew poured with a two finger white head that was thick, yet dissipated quickly and left limited lacing on the glass. The body was a cloudy orange color with definite active carbonation visible through the haziness. The nose was really one-dimensional with pungent raspberry. But, it was definitely fruity and pleasant. The taste was much better than the nose. It started with sweet raspberry and then a bit of wheat came through on it. The raspberry tasted authentic and not like raspberry flavoring, which was really nice. After a few sips, I also got a bit of tartness to it. The body was towards the thicker side of lambic with active carbonation, which made this a very crisp, yet fruity brew. The finish was long and fruity. For a brew that I really didn’t think that I would enjoy, it floored me. It didn’t remind me of a fruit spritzer and it had a lot of flavor and was just really satisfying. I would definitely have this brew again.
