Cantillon Rose De Gambrinus

Posted: June 9, 2012 in Brasserie Cantillon, Lambic - Fruit, Reviews

After we left Misconduct, we were headed to Jose Pistolas for some nachos, which I had heard were the best in the city. Katie and I definitely were impressed by the nachos. I’ve only ever headed to Pistolas for drinks and the guac especially was amazing there. So, I let Katie review this beer for me, so let’s see what she thought.

ABV: 5%

Style: Lambic – Fruit

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.”

Random: Almost everyone in the bar was having this beer.

This brew poured with no head and left no lacing on the glass. The body was a deep red, which was hazy and there was no visible carbonation due to the haziness. The nose was filled with raspberry, which was natural and not artificial. The taste was very tart with some raspberry and a bit of lemon. The body was thin with no carbonation and was almost syrupy. The finish was tart and Katie wouldn’t have it again. I, on the other hand, absolutely loved this beer. It was tart, complex with lots of fruit. This was probably one of the best lambics that I’ve ever had. It was incredibly drinkable and flavorful. Absolutely amazing brew.
