Since the summer, Katie and I had a vacation to Florida planned. Her mother moved down here, so she’s been asking forever for us to come down here. It just so happened that the vacation hit in the middle of the hurricane and snow storm time period, which was nice. What wasn’t nice was getting to the airport. I have a huge fear of planes, so I was stressed to begin with. That morning, Katie managed to lose her medicine and glasses. She also dropped a glass filled with change and got glass all over. We finally got to the airport as the snow started. As we parked the car and were waiting for the shuttle, I asked Katie if she had everything, to which she said yes. As we start towards the airport, she realized that she left her purse at the bus stop with our phones, wallets, boarding passes, etc. I jumped off the bus and ran back to the stop and grabbed everything. Needless to say, it was a fun flight. This was the first beer that I had when we landed in Florida.
Style: Munich Dunkel Lager
Trivia: According to the distributor website, “Negra Modelo was first produced in 1926. Negra Modelo is brewed and bottled in Mexico by Grupo Modelo, Mexico’s largest brewer, operating seven state-of-the-art breweries throughout Mexico.”
Random: I can’t believe I haven’t had this beer yet. It’s been on my list since I started the blog.
This brew poured with a half a finger of white head that dissipated at a moderate pace. It left some lacing on the glass. The body was a clear, mahogany color with moderate carbonation visible throughout. The nose had some notes of cola and caramel malts with a hint of sweetness. The taste was cola with some cereal grains. I also got some chocolate and toffee. I also got a hint of hops at the end. The body was light with high carbonation. The finish was pretty quick with a touch of biscuit. This was a really flavorful and easy drinking beer. If you haven’t tried it, go grab one. I’ll definitely be having one again soon.
