Otter Creek Hop Session Ale

It’s rare that I go into a beer store and come out with a six-pack of beer from Otter Creek. It’s not that I don’t like their stuff, I just tend to find it boring. A few weeks ago, I was searching for a brew that was sessionable during the game. There weren’t lot of choices and this one was listed as a new brew from the brewery. Sold!

ABV: 4.25%

Style: American Pale Ale

Trivia: This was handcrafted in Middlebury, Vermont. I would give you more, but their website is under construction.

Random: The meow has been all over me today. I guess he’s not used to anyone being home on a Monday. He’s currently being used as my notebook rest.

This one poured with a huge and creamy white head that was slow to dissipate and left decent lacing behind. The body was a clear, golden orange color with plentiful carbonation. The nose was grassy and lemony with a slightly off putting medicinal odor. The taste was teeming with fresh lemon and some grassy and herbal hops along for the ride. Unfortunately, that medicinal note that I got in the nose was present as well and equally as unpleasant in the taste. The body was thin with medium carbonation. The finish was long with lemon and the same medicinal note. I really wanted to enjoy this beer, but the medicinal note that was present throughout was offputting, to put it mildly. If you have another option, take it. I wouldn’t rush back to have this one.
