I love when new breweries come to New Jersey. Starr Hill is a brewery that just came to New Jersey last month with a bunch of their offerings. The first one I tried happened to be this one. I was really in the mood for a hefe, so let’s see how this turned out.
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “The Love is an unfiltered wheat beer, also known as a hefeweizen. It is distinguished by its extremely light body and flavored with hints of banana and clove. A slice of lemon can complement this refreshing brew.”
Random: I’m really digging the label art on this one. It definitely jumps out at you from a shelf.
I wish I had a hefeweizen glass at Kate’s, but since I don’t, a pint will have to do. This poured with a two finger head that was relatively thin for the style. The head was pure white and dissipated rather quickly and left limited lacing on the glass. The body was a cloudy, light yellow color with lots of carbonation. The nose was very spicy with coriander and clove being the standouts. It followed with lemon peel as well. The taste started with soft lemon and spice that was a bit more subtle in taste than on the nose. There was also some yeast and wheat at the end of the sip. I got a touch of banana at the end of the sip as well. The body was medium thickness and had heavy carbonation. The finish was long with lemon and spice. This was a well-balanced and easy drinking hefe. I would definitely have this again.
