Anchorage Whiteout Wit

So, my beer buddy, iCarly (who you’ll inevitably hear more about) was discussing beer with me one day and we were comparing beers available in Virginia versus New Jersey. She saw on the blog that I could get Anchorage here and asked if I had tried the Whiteout Wit yet, which I hadn’t. She waxed poetic on how wonderful it was for about a good five minutes straight, so during my next trip to the beer store, I knew this had to come home with me.

ABV: 6.5%

Style: Witbier

Trivia: So, the brewery website has nothing about this beer on the website. I hope this doesn’t mean that they’ve discontinued it.

Random: I really should get to trying more beers from Anchorage. The ones I’ve tried so far have been really solid.

This bad boy poured with a one finger white head that dissipated slowly with some lacing left on the glass. The body was a clear, light yellow color with high carbonation visible. The nose was straight out Brett up front, couple with light oak, lemongrass and lemon zest. Can someone say, “yummy?” The taste was even better. Warm oak and vanilla notes started the sip. Then, light lemongrass and clove came through. A touch of white wine grape and Brett came through to finish the sip. Holy hell, this was amazing. The body was a medium thickness with high carbonation. It had a lengthy finish with vanilla. This was an absolutely outstanding brew. It was complex and flavorful and every flavor was well-integrated. Go buy this now, end of story.
