Sixpoint 3Beans

I love coffee. My sister makes perhaps the best coffee I’ve had. We have a healthy rotation of different flavors and different brands that go in and out of the house. It’s part of our weekend routine. We make coffee and brunch and then I settle in to watch the Phillies game. She then throws whatever is left into the iced coffee pitcher. Since I love coffee so much, I am really enticed by any coffee beer. I missed this one when it was first released, so I was really excited to crack one of these open.

ABV: 10%

Style: Baltic Porter

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans…and put them into one vessel. The beans of bygone brewers, united with cacao and coffee, to create a trinity of roasted, rich, and savory flavors.”

Random: Why is the 1-877-Kars for Kids jingle so insanely catchy?

This brew poured with a two finger tan head. It dissipated rather slowly and left some healthy lacing behind on the glass. The body was a dark chocolate color with medium carbonation visible throughout the body. The nose was straight out espresso and dark chocolate. This was definitely looking like a promising beer so far. The taste was the dark chocolate that was present in the nose, but instead of espresso, it was like a light roasted regular coffee. It wasn’t bad, but not as strong as the nose would have me believe. The booze was really well-integrated as well. The body was full with moderate carbonation present. The finish was long with more chocolate. Despite the fact that the chocolate and coffee were pretty much all the flavors I got, it really worked for me. I hate drinking a beer that says it’s a “coffee beer” and you’re wondering where the coffee is. This one did it for me. Go grab a four pack of this ASAP.
