Moa Methode

Last night, I watched the first disc of a documentary on the Kennedy Assassination. I was so tired that I fell asleep on it. Apparently I incorporated aspects of the documentary into my dream because I woke up in a cold sweat wondering where the FBI was since assassins were after me. I also realized that I woke up on my couch, so perhaps I wasn’t being targeted…

ABV: 5.5%

Style: German Pilsener

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Moa Methode is a natural Pilsner style lager brewed using Champagne yeast. A late throw of Pacifica and Motueka hops impart herbaceous and tropical aromas, Moa Methode finishes with a dry malty spiciness.”

Random: I’m really into the new Imagine Dragons song, “Demons.” I hope it doesn’t get overplayed on the radio like “Radioactive.”

This brew poured with a huge, three finger white head that dissipated slowly with lots of lacing left on the glass. The body was a clear, golden-yellow color with lots of carbonation visible throughout. The nose was floral, with touches of tropical fruit and sweetness. Lemon came out as well. The taste started with a touch of bitterness and then a touch of mint and light notes of tropical fruits. Lemon and grain were present on the table as well. The flavors were relatively subtle, but very well done. The body was medium thickness with high carbonation. The finish was quick, but had a touch of bitterness and citrus. For a style that I tend not to enjoy, this beer was exciting. It had some very unique flavors and was really well done all around. If you see a bottle of this, pick it up. You won’t be sorry.
