I think I’m finally recovered from End of Quarter. I got up extra early today because the lawyer was up and I wanted to make sure that she had breakfast before she left for the day. Anyways, she picked this one up for me and I was really excited to try it out.
Style: American Pale Ale
Trivia: According to seattlebeernews.com, “Throughout the year, Elysian Brewing has been releasing a new beer each month in their 12 Beers of the Apocalypse series. This Thursday, just before some say the Mayans predicted the world will end on Friday, December 21, Elysian will host an End of the World party at Elysian Fields. They will be releasing the last beer in the series, DOOM Golden Treacle Pale, which will be available on draft and in bottles.”
Random: The cat has now decided that he will sit in my lap. He doesn’t realize how large he is.
This brew poured with less than a half a finger of white head that dissipated at a moderate pace and left some lacing on the glass. The body is a cloudy, dark orange color. There was very little carbonation visible due to the cloudiness. The nose was not nearly as Belgian influenced as I would have thought. There was some pine and grapefruit present with bready malts. The taste was equally hoppy. There was significant notes of pine and grapefruit like the nose, which then followed up with a bit of sweetness from the treacle. There was also some notes of pineapple. The body was on the thicker side with high carbonation. The finish was long with some significant hoppiness. This brew was pretty good, although not nearly as sweet as I would have expected.
