I used to prepare some of my reviews in advance with the trivia and style notations before I reviewed them. This review was one that I prepared in 2011, but my sister drank the beer because there was nothing else in the fridge that she wanted. Fast forward to now, and the other half picked up one of these for me to review, mainly because she wanted to try it too. So, let’s see how this one was.
Style: Fruit/Vegetable Beer
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Sea Dog Apricot Wheat Beer is a crisp and quenching wheat ale with a subtle essence of fresh apricots.”
Random: I still haven’t managed to find the meow a hat like the dog on the label has. Despite the fact that the meow would hate it, I still want one.
This brew poured with a one finger white head that dissipated almost instantly. It left no lacing on the pint glass. The body was a straw yellow color with very little carbonation visible. The nose was filled with apricot and wheat. It was really nice and fragrant. The taste was a notch below the nose. It had a lot of apricot notes with wheat as well, but there was a touch of a medicinal flavor directly after. The body was on the medium side with moderate carbonation. It could have used more, but I think this bottle is on the old. The finish was quick with some apricot. The beer was pretty much a one-trick pony, but it went down easy. If you like apricots, it’s worth a shot.
