Elysian Dayglow IPA

This could be one of the craziest labels that I’ve ever seen. I think my cat thinks he looks like that when he decides at 4 AM that he needs to hunt and play with his toys. Anyways, this is an IPA that uses Mosaic hops in it, which I’m really starting to enjoy.

ABV: 6.5%

Style: American IPA

Trivia: According to greatbrewers.com, “This is beer with the insistent beat of hops as driving and inevitable as a Full Moon party in Haad Rin. It drips with tropical, sunshiny Mosaic, and twinkles with touches of Eldorado and Centennial. A touch of wheat hazes the malt bill around the edges, and the IBUs are stuck in the mid-sixties. Rave on.”

Random: I hate when it’s crappy and rainy on my day off.

This brew poured with a huge four finger white head that was exceptionally fluffy and was really slow to dissipated. There was lots of lacing left on the glass. The body was a clear straw yellow color with decent amounts of carbonation present. The nose was really fragrant with tropical fruits, specifically mango and I also got some Mandarin oranges with grapefruit and a touch of wood. The taste was light with lots of tropical fruits as well. There was a lot of citrus just like the nose, specifically Mandarin oranges. There was a little bit of malt sweetness right at the end, but make no mistake, this was hop forward. It was definitely bitter, but the tropical fruit and citrus managed some of it. The body was on the lighter side with generous carbonation. It had a long tropical finish. The made for a great summer IPA, given the tropical fruit. I would have this one again.
