Evil Genius Forsaken

The other half and I ended up at a local eatery before heading to my sister’s house for Father’s Day. I heard that this place had more craft beers on tap and has been having more beer events since it changed ownership. Although the beer has definitely improved, the food has not. It was absolutely awful. Val got a pulled pork sandwich that could have been the worst pulled pork I ever consumed. I got a nasty stomachache right after eating it. This brew was a leftover from their recent Evil Genius Tap Takeover. Let’s see how it was.

ABV: 6.5%

Style: American Amber/Red Ale

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “This hoppy amber blends together notes of pine and citrus by using a combination of Simcoe and Zythos hops. This beer is balanced by robust malt flavors which are sure to please all comers.”

Random: I’m trying to get up the energy to go get a haircut today. So far, it isn’t working. My hair is longer than its been in about five years. It’s bordering on ridiculous.

This beer poured with a thick, one finger cream colored head. It left lots of lacing on the glass and was slow to dissipate. The body was a deep cloudy red color with moderate carbonation. The nose was mild with some nuts and grassy hops. Caramel malt was present too. The taste was more intense with some wood, big time nuttiness and lots caramel malt. Then, some biting pine hops came through. It had a thick body with high carbonation. It had a quick finish with nuts and caramel malt. This beer was alright, but nothing fantastic. I wouldn’t rush back to have it again.

Untappd Rating: 3.5/5.0
