This was another beer that we picked up from Half Time in New York. This is the fifth beer that I’ve had from the brewery in the last year. Since it’s not distributed in Jersey, I’ve picked all five up in New York. Let’s see how this beer was.
Style: American Dark Wheat Ale
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “The short days and long nights bring this prowling cat out on the town, looking to scratch up some fun with a great beer. This Night Cat is dark
in color, bold in hop but not heavy in body. It is full of tropical fruit notes from the Citra hops that combine with a nice dark wheat malt flavor.”
Random: It is really cold and blustery out. My time of weather!
This brew poured with a thick, one finger head that dissipated slowly and left lots of lacing on the glass. The body was a slightly cloudy dark brown color with light carbonation visible. The nose had toasted bread along with some brown sugar. I didn’t get much else. The taste had a lot of hoppiness to it. The hoppiness quickly went into bready and caramel malt. It had a bit of smokiness to it as well. The body was thick with high carbonation. It had a long finish with lots of smoke and bitter hops. There was no wheat to this beer, nor did it have any citrus, which was offputting. It was $2.49 a can, which wasn’t very expensive, but given that I didn’t enjoy it, I wouldn’t have this beer again.
