We’re getting to the end of the Half Time haul from Christmas. Let’s see how this Arizona beer is.

ABV: 3.5%

Style: American Blonde Ale

Trivia: According to phoenixnewtimes.com, “The brewpub featured more than 16 beers on tap, eats like burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, and snacks, and live music on featured evenings. It also claimed to have the best outdoor patio in Scottsdale — a pet-friendly, 2,000-square foot space with state-of-the-art, hi-def screens and sound. In April, the Arizona Daily Star reported that Nimbus Brewing filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with brewery owner Jim Counts citing gas meter problems, conflict with his partner, and outstanding lawsuits as the explanation behind the reorganization.”

Random: It’s finally feeling like Spring, which means that I really need to buy a lawnmower.

When I cracked this beer open, it exploded all over me. I was right by the sink, so the explosion didn’t make too much of a mess. When I finally got it into a glass, it had a huge, four finger head that was cream-colored and took forever to dissipate. It left lots of lacing on the glass. The body was a hazy, dark yellow color with seltzer-like amounts of carbonation. The nose had lots of lemon and yeast, but nothing else remarkable. The taste had way too much bread, then lemon with light spice. Each sip became more and more unpleasant. To make matters worse, the body was watery and the carbonation was obnoxiously present. It had a long finish like drinking the dregs of a home brew. It was like having a mouth filled with yeast. This beer was $1.99 for the bottle, which broke down to $.17 per bottle. Despite the relatively low price, I would not have this again if it was handed to me.

Untappd Rating: 2.5/5.0
