This week has been insane at work. I thought that since we were out of end-of-quarter, I would get out at a decent time. I was wrong. Instead, we have nighttime store rollouts for the stores to get their $15,000 sofas. Why anyone would spend that much money on a sectional is beyond me. But, I guess that’s why I’m not buying them. Anyways, this was the beer I sampled last night. Let’s see how it was.
ABV: 4.9%
Style: American IPA
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “How do you cram as much hop & malt flavor and aroma as possible into a beer but make it crushable too? That’s the challenger we answered with PINNER Throwback IPA. At 4.9% ABV and 35 IBUs, this drinkable IPA uses several varieties of hops to target the ever-evolving flavor. With tropical fruits, citrus juices, pineapple and spicery berry up front in the aroma and flavor, the biscuit & toasted bread at the back balance out all the hops and make a great finish to go on to your next can of PINNER. It’s the perfect beer for a little sip, sip, give.”
Random: It’s almost been 3 years since I’ve had a beer from Oskar Blues.
This beer poured with a two finger, pure white head that dissipated slowly. It didn’t leave any lacing on the glass, but left a quarter of an inch of white crown. The body was a clear, straw yellow color with moderate carbonation visible. The nose had dank pine notes with floral notes as well. There was a touch of malt as well, but this is definitely hop dominant. The taste started with the same dank, pine notes and quickly transitioned into a combination of floral hops and melon. At the end of the sip was some biscuit as well. It had a light body with moderate carbonation. The finish could have been longer with the floral hops. This was $1.50 a can (with the NJCB discount), which came to $.12 per ounce. For that price and that flavor, this is a great session IPA that I would have again.
