New Jersey Beer Company LBIPA

Posted: May 15, 2015 in American IPA, New Jersey Beer Company, Reviews

I am definitely not a morning person. I am even less of a morning person when I have to go in for load out on five hours of sleep. The only benefit is that I don’t hit any traffic. Let’s talk about something more exciting than my lack of sleep, like this beer…

ABV: 7%

Style: American IPA

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Our IPA, the LBIPA, celebrates warm summer days at the Jersey Shore. LBIPA is floral, with notes of citrus and generously dry hopped by our brewers, Dave and Brendan. 7% ABV, 60 IBU. This beer is shore (!) to please. Cheers! Winner of the silver medal for NJ Brewed Beers at the 2014 AC Beer and Music Festival!!! A portion of the proceeds will benefit Alliance for a Living Ocean.”

Random: Big shock, Brady is appealing “Deflategate.” I think he has a decent shot at winning too.

This beer poured with a one finger, off-white head that dissipated slowly and left a lot of lacing on the glass. The body was a hazy, dark orange color with lots of carbonation. The nose was strong with floral and citrus hops. I picked up lemon and grapefruit notes. The taste was more of the same with floral hops and bountiful citrus. A pine note ended the sip. The body was on the thicker side of the style with generous carbonation. It had a long finish with pine. This was a really drinkable IPA that I enjoyed. The alcohol was well-hidden too. This was $2.93 a bottle (with the NJCB discount), which made it $.24 per ounce. For that price, I would definitely grab it again.

Untappd Rating: 3.5/5.0
