Tired Hands Cat Statue

Posted: July 10, 2015 in Reviews, Saison/Farmhouse Ale, Tired Hands Brewing Company

This was the beer that Val ordered at the Fermentaria. One of the things that I really liked about the brewery was that they offered all of their beers in 8 ounce pours. This meant that I could really get a feel for the beer, but not have a 16 ounce serving and not try as many beers. I think more breweries should do this.

ABV: 5.2%

Style: Saison/Farmhouse Ale

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Spiced Saison. 5.2% Brewed with oats. Spiced with lemons, white sage, and Japanese knotweed. Conditioned in large oak barrels for one month. Summery! Notes of bright citrus, herbaceous sage, pineapple, white pepper and pear.”

Random: I would like a cat statue for my garden, but it would need to be appropriately whimsical, much like the bunny decoration that is in our front yard.

This beer poured with a half a finger of white head on top of a clear, yellow body. The head dissipated slowly and left a lot of lacing on the glass. The nose had notes of citrus and pineapple. The taste was really awesome with herbal notes, specifically sage and then transitioned into orange and pineapple. It had a touch of yeast in the background as well with some spice. I didn’t get much from the oak, but the other flavors made up for it. The beer was light with high carbonation and had a lengthy citrus finish. This was another beer that I really enjoyed from Tired Hands and was great for a hot day.
