After we left The Other Farm, we were hungry and went next door to grab some lunch. Val checked online and saw that they had an impressive beer menu, despite being in the middle of nowhere.
Style: American IPA
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “No other ingredient stirs the passion of a Master Brewer like the hop. Inspired by this legendary flower we challenged ourselves to create a world class IPA. Head Hunter is an aggressively dry-hopped, West Coast-Style IPA with a huge hop display of pine, grapefruit, citrus and pineapple. A punch-you-in-the-mouth brew for those who truly love their hops! Uncivilized? Yes. Aggressive? Absolutely. Award Winning? Hell yes!”
Random: This won bronze at 2010 GABF.
This beer poured with a half finger of white head that dissipated slowly and left some lacing on the glass. The body was a clear, golden color with high carbonation. The nose was pungent and filled with grapefruit flesh and dank pine. The taste was just outstanding. It started with the same grapefruit flesh notes and quickly went into pine needles, which was balanced by bready and toasted pale malt. After a few sips, I picked up a green vegetal note that I couldn’t exactly place, although it wasn’t off-putting in the slightest. The body was medium in thickness with a lot of carbonation. I could put a few of this down without a problem. The finish was lengthy with pine and the vegetal note. This beer was wonderful. It had lots of hoppy flavor and was easy to drink. My only complaint is that they don’t distribute to New Jersey. If you see this beer and you like hops, try it immediately.
