When I heard that this brewery was purchased by Green Flash, I was excited about the possibility of trying this beer. Let’s see how it was.
Style: American IPA
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Hoppy Birthday Truth is, everyone has a birthday. And when you want to celebrate, this Session IPA is a gift to the senses. Made with 6 different hops, this bold brew is refreshing enough to enjoy again and again. Now, make a wish and blow out the candles. But don’t tell anyone, or your wish won’t come true. 69 IBU 5.25%ABV”
Random: It’s a month and a day until my birthday.
This beer poured with a thick, two finger, off-white head. It dissipated slowly and left some lacing on the glass, along with a crown. The body was clear, with high carbonation and light copper in color. The nose was dank. It had fresh pine needles and citrus. It also had a floral note. The taste, as expected, also had a lot of pine and grapefruit pith. The taste had a slight malt presence that the nose was lacking. It was really flavorful and drank much bigger than a session IPA. The body was medium thick with high carbonation. The finish was sticky with piney hops. A single bottle of this was expensive at $2.50 ($.21 per ounce), but worth every penny. I would have this again in a minute.
