Happy New Year’s! Hopefully this year is even better than last year. Today’s beer is one that I was very excited to try. I’ve had an affinity for Cisco since I started the blog since one of the blogs I follow is from the New England area. I’m hoping to get up there at some point and visit the brewery. Let’s crack this one open.
Style: American Wild Ale
Trivia: This beer is only available in bombers.
Random: The new season of “American Horror Story” is really different from the others. A few episodes in and I’m not sure that I like the new approach. Hopefully it gets better.
The beer poured with less than a quarter finger of white head that dissipated quickly. It left no lacing on the glass. The body was a cloudy, brown color with no visible carbonation due to the haziness. The nose had notes of old basement and must with spoiled cherries. It also had a red wine characteristic with some vinegar. The taste had significant tartness with red wine vinegar. There were also notes of cherry skins, old yeast and grape must. There was also some musty basement notes that weren’t pleasant. I didn’t get any booze on the beer. The body had moderate thickness with light carbonation. The finish was lengthy with cherry skins. A bomber of this was $17.99, which broke down to $.82 per ounce). This beer was a bit too expensive for what it was. I wouldn’t have this again.
