Off Color Hyper Predator

Posted: March 18, 2017 in Off Color Brewing, Reviews, Saison/Farmhouse Ale

I managed to find this beer hanging out on the shelf. Off Color keeps putting out quality liquid, so any time I see a beer from them, it ends up coming home with me.

ABV: 6.5%

Style: Saison/Farmhouse Ale

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “When you are a Farmhouse Ale the top of the food chain, you ingest everything in sight. SOMETIMES coffee bean are in sight. WHEN YOU INGest those, it takes you to a whole ‘nother trophic level. THEN YOU ARE ON TOP OF THE TOP. WHEN YOU GET ON TOP OF THE TOP IT’S HARD TO COME BACK DOWN. BUT WHY COME DOWN? YOU ARE ALREADY AT A DIFFERENT LEVEL! MAN, THIS COFFEE FARMHOUSE ALE IS GOOD!!! WHY AM I FEELING MY HEART THIS MUCH!?”

Random: Val got me a hat from Off Color for my birthday that fits perfectly.

The brew poured with a two finger, white head that dissipated instantly and left no lacing on the glass. The body was hazy and yellow with moderate carbonation visible. The nose was filled with black coffee, Belgian yeast and golden raisins. I also picked up light spice. The taste was also a lot of coffee, but it was lighter on the taste than in the nose. Belgian yeast came through next with apricot. The body was light with high carbonation. It had a quick finish with coffee. A bottle of this was $1.67, which broke down to $.14 per ounce. This was a really unique beer and the addition of coffee made it even more drinkable. If you see this on shelves, pick it up.

Untappd Rating: 4.5/5.0
