This morning’s selection is a mead that is best left until the end of the night, given how high the ABV is. Let’s see how it was.
Trivia: According to the meadery website, “Sometimes bad things happen and we have to make it right. When one of our scientists accidentally crossbred the DNA of Zombie Killer into The Zombies Take Manhattan this delicious mutant was born. While society may never let us create such an abomination again, we just couldn’t put it out if its misery. Enjoy this one while you can.”
Random: This is available in bottle and on tap.
The mead poured with a clear and still, bright pink body. The body had lightly toasted wood and overripe cherries. There was also some vanilla extract in the mead. Alcohol was quite noticeable on the nose, which wasn’t a surprise given the high ABV. It also had Red Delicious apples, honey and rye spice. The taste was intense and it took a few sips to get use to it. It started with strong cherry sweetness and transitioned into rye spice. There was also some cinnamon and toasted oak. There was also a sweet honey note. Booze warmed the back of my throat, although it wasn’t incredibly abrasive. The body was medium thickness and oily. It had a lengthy finish with boozy cherries and honey. A bottle of this was $12.99, which came to $.77 per ounce. I’ve always enjoyed the B. Nektar zombie series, but this was incredibly enjoyable. If you see it hanging out on a shelf, grab a bottle.
