Victory V-Twelve

Posted: May 10, 2017 in Quadrupel (Quad), Reviews, Victory Brewing Company

Tonight’s selection is another beer that I picked up from the brewery at their Kennett Square location. It’s one of the few Victory beers that I haven’t reviewed. It also has a brand new label, courtesy of the label redesigns. This is also a beer that I’ve walked past in the store many times since I figured that I would get to it at some point. Well, now is that time, so let’s pop the cork open.

v12

ABV: 12%

Style: Quadrupel (Quad)

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Taste true liquid luxury in this decadent and nuanced Belgian-style quad. Pear and apricot aromas blend with caramel, fruit and spice flavors in this full-bodied amber ale.”

Random: This is a year round offering in 750 mL bottles.

This beer poured with a half a finger of white head. It dissipated quickly and left very little lacing on the glass. The body was clear and warm orange in color with lots of soda-like carbonation visible. The nose had some hot booze with apricots, Belgian yeast, clove and orange rind. There was some clover honey sweetness as well. The taste was boozy but sweet with clove, Belgian yeast and honey. It had some white grape notes as well. Even though there was booze, it wasn’t 12% ABV worth. It had a medium body with high carbonation. The finish was lengthy and sweet with golden fruit, honey and bread. A bottle of this was $9.99, which broke down to $.45 per ounce. I enjoyed this beer a lot. I thought it was a solid interpretation of a Belgian classic.
