Round Guys The Last Waltz

Posted: June 3, 2017 in American Porter, Reviews, Round Guys Brewing Company

This was one of the beers that I had during my day and a half at home, before flying back out to Ohio. I found that I craved a few things being outside of New Jersey for so long. One was pizza and the other was pork roll. No one in Ohio has any idea what pork roll is. It makes breakfast quite sad.

ABV: 9%

Style: American Porter

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Impressive plumes of malt driven chocolate flavors rush the stage. Provides a catchy alcohol sweetness that will linger with you, keeping you running back for more far into the wee hours.”

Random: I did like Round Guys tasting room. If you’re in Lansdale, definitely stop by.

The beer poured with a half a finger of white head that dissipated quickly and left no lacing on the glass. It did leave a slight crown on top of the dark brown body. I didn’t see any carbonation in the beer because of the dark color. The nose was filled with cocoa and milk chocolate. Wood ash came through next. The taste had even more smoke, complemented by dusty chocolate. The alcohol note was pronounced and needed to be more integrated. It had a thick and chewy body with moderate carbonation. The finish was lengthy with the same dusty chocolate. I don’t remember how much I paid for this beer because I bought it at the brewery and aged it for awhile. I thought that the beer needed a lot of refining and the alcohol was still, shockingly hot for having aged it.

Untappd Rating: 3.0/5.0
