While I was in Ohio, I ate a lot at Texas Roadhouse since it was right across from my hotel. They had very few options, other than steak, that weren’t covered in cheese or fried. I ended up getting grilled shrimp a lot with a plain salad and grilled vegetables. The service there was surprisingly good too. Their beer selection was a bit sad, so I never reviewed anything there. This beer was one that I had at Hop Yard 62.
Style: Saison/Farmhouse Ale
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Light-bodied Saison made with American Comet hops creating a rustic, juicy citrus profile and a spicy yeast character, this Saison is eminently drinkable.”
Random: For a small bar, they turned over kegs very quickly.
The brew poured with a quarter of a finger of white head. it dissipated quickly and left minimal lacing on the glass. The body was very cloudy and yellow. There was no visible carbonation because of the haziness. The nose was very bright and citrusy. It reminded me of a witbier. There wasn’t any spice that I could pick up. There wasn’t a marked yeast presence either. The taste had more balance with yeast and coriander. It also had a lot of orange segments and lemon juice. There was a hay characteristic too. The body was medium thickness with moderate carbonation. It had a quick and bright finish with citrus. This beer was really drinkable and went down easily after a long day of work. If you see this on tap if you’re in Ohio, grab a pint of it.
