Sideswipe Dutch Pike Pale Ale

Posted: July 7, 2017 in American Pale Ale, Reviews, Sideswipe Brewing

I had this beer during my last week in Ohio. When you travel a lot, you get sick of eating at chain restaurants, living out of a suitcase, sleeping in an uncomfortable bed and not being in my own shower. When I first got home, I didn’t know which was better, my own shower gel in my own shower or sleeping in my own bed. I tried to make the best of it, but there’s something about being at home.

ABV: 6%

Style: American Pale Ale

Trivia: This is a collaboration beer between Hop Yard 62 and Sideswipe brewing.

Random: We started watching “Empire” again. We have this habit of letting shows sit on the DVR until we have at least 5 episodes.

The brew poured with a half a finger of white head. It dissipated instantly and left a decent amount of lacing on the glass. The body was clear and amber in color with moderate carbonation visible. The nose had some grain and grassy hops with a touch of pine needles. The taste was light and crisp, but had some pine needles and fresh cut grass. It was quickly followed up with bread hops. The body was on the medium side with light carbonation that needed to be dialed up a little more. The finish was quick bready finish. This was really drinkable, but I wish it had a little more hop flavor. You can only get this beer at Hop Yard 62, so if you find yourself in Grove City, stop by and try a pint of this.
