Columbus Thunderlips

My last selection when leaving Ohio was this one. I believe that they used this beer to replace their regular Pale Ale offering. It also looks like they did a major rebranding as well, which made the bottles more attractive. This beer seems to be updated through the hops they chose to use. Let’s see how it was.

thunderlips

ABV: 5.3%

Style: American Pale Ale

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “This deep golden Pale Ale is brewed with Simpsons Golden Promise malt to create a backbone for thunderous additions of Mosaic® and Equinox® hops.”

Random: I’m not into this season of “Empire.” I think the whole Lucious being crazy evil thing is getting a little bit old. Cookie also makes the show. I could watch the entire thing of just her.

The beer poured with a half a finger of white head. It dissipated quickly and left almost no lacing on the glass. The body was slightly cloudy and light yellow in color with moderate carbonation. The nose was really hoppy with a lot of pineapple and grapefruit segments. It had a touch of earthiness too. The taste was good. It had a lot of pineapple and mango and transitioned rather awkwardly into whit bread malt. The body was on the medium side with light carbonation. It needed to have a little bit more. The finish was quick and filled with Mosaic. This was a solid beer to leave Ohio on. If you get distribution of this beer, grab a bottle.
