Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Across America – West Latitude

We finally got an electrician to come to put up our new lighting fixture in the dining room. We also replaced the outdoor light and put a fan up in the guest bedroom and a new fan in the master bedroom. It all looks great, especially the new outdoor light. We hated the one that came with the house, so this made me especially excited.

ABV: 5.5%

Style: Rye Beer

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “West Latitude combines our Californian Left Coast love of fruity hops with a touch of Hawaiian ‘aloha’ from the addition of hibiscus flowers, all anchored by robust malts and spicy rye. This session beer is light in body but looms large, like the long shadows of a westward setting sun.”

Random: They couldn’t put up one light outside without drilling through the masonry, so I told them not to put it in.

This beer poured with a one finger, cream-colored head that was quite thick. It left some lacing on the glass. The body was clear and dark brown with moderate carbonation. The nose had some rye along with some maple and old leaves. The taste had more bitterness with rye spice and brown malts and brown bread. The body was on the lighter side with generous carbonation. It had a quick finish with a lot of rye. I don’t remember how much I paid for the beer, but it came in the Beer Camp mixed pack. I thought this beer was decent and I liked all of the rye spice that it brought. It’s worth a shot, although I doubt it’s still on shelves or on tap.
