I keep listening to CNN on the way to work. It’s depressing. I’ve never been so interested in politics, and I was a Political Science minor. It feels like a bad reality show. Anyways, this is a beer that has been on my “try” list for a long time.
Style: American IPA
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “A West Coast IPA Our original single IPA made with Simcoe and Amarillo hops ‘in harmony.’ 1.065 OG 7% ABV”
Random: Alpine’s beers are still on the more expensive side, but well worth it.
The beer poured with half a finger of white head that dissipated relatively quickly. It left very little lacing on the glass. It did leave a half a finger of a crown on top of the body. The body itself was clear and yellow. The nose had a lot of citrus fruit, specifically grapefruit. It also had grapefruit zest along with some pine needles. It had a touch of a stone fruit note as well. The flavor of the beer mirrored the nose. It was a lot of grapefruit flesh and zest and even a touch of tangerine. The pine needles and oil came through next. There was very little malt on this beer. The body was on the lighter side with moderate carbonation. It had a lengthy and sticky finish. A bottle was $2.50, which broke down to $.21 per ounce. This beer was perfection in a glass. The flavors married so well together and it just worked. I will definitely be having this again.
