Jolly Pumpkin Bam Di Castagna

This year, our flowers came up really nicely in the yard, except for the fact that the deer like to snack on them. We’ve also gotten a lot of foxes in the yard lately, although only really early in the morning, before Val gets up. They tend to go after deer, which is a bit odd to me. I guess this is what we get for living in the country.

ABV: 4.5%

Style: Saison/Farmhouse Ale

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Dark, smooth and delicious. Aromas of worn leather and cool autumn nights. Notes of sweet plum and toasted raisin, hints of coffee and cacao. Lingering tart and refreshing finish.”

Random: This is an Autumn seasonal.

The beer poured with a quarter finger of white head. It was very fluffy head and dissipated slowly. It left a lot of lacing on the glass. The body was cloudy and golden-yellow. It had moderate carbonation. The nose started with a lot of yeast and funk, but quickly went into leather and oak. The taste had some white grapes up front and the same yeast and funk that was apparent in the nose. It had a toasted grain note as well. The body was on the lighter side with moderate carbonation. The finish was lengthy with an oaky white wine note. Val bought this for me, so I have no idea how much it was, but I enjoyed the depth and complexity of this beer. I’m glad I got a chance to give this a shot.
