Departed Soles Oelewapper

We’ve made some progress on wedding planning. So far, we have a DJ and a photographer. We’re looking at more dresses this week too. We’re making progress, although I wish we were done with booking vendors.

ABV: 6.8%

Style: Dubbel

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “While many properties were considered for the brewery, often times zoning regulations, difficult landlords, or equipment woes came in the way. Ironically, the property that we now call home was one of the first we tried to get. Patience pays off, and everything happens for a reason. The best part is our microbrewery has mass appeal though, and access to mass transit! Departed Soles Brewing Company encourages you to drink, and visit us, responsibly. Please consider taking NJ Transit, the PATH Train, Light Rail, Ferry, or a Bus to the brewery… we are just a few blocks from a stop for each!”

Random: The label on this beer looks like a drugged owl.

The beer poured with a half a finger of ecru colored head. It dissipated slowly, but only left a small amount of lacing on the glass. The body was a dark brown with some carbonation visible, although it was very dark. The nose had a lot of nuttiness with caramel and toffee. The taste had a significant amount of sweetness. I picked up brown sugar, caramel, toffee and grain as well. It was almost too sweet for me. The body was on the thick side with generous carbonation. The finish was lengthy with brown sugar. I don’t remember how much this beer was, but it wasn’t one that I would buy again. It needed a touch more balance.

Untappd Rating: 2.5/5.0
