Owl’s Brew Wicked Watermelon

It’s less than a month until the wedding (well, at least when you read this, since I prepost a long time in advance). I didn’t think wedding planning would be so stressful and there would be so many decisions. If it’s something I care about, I have a strong opinion, but I’m not the type to care about linen colors or fonts on a program. I just want everyone to have a good time.

ABV: 3.8%

Style: Fruit/Vegetable Beer

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Wheat Beer blended with Organic White Tea, Watermelon and Pomegranate Juice.”

Random: This is another beer that Val absolutely loves.

The beer poured with a two finger, light tan head. It went away quickly and left no lacing on the glass. The body was hazy and a brownish-yellow color. Because of the cloudiness, I couldn’t see any carbonation. The nose had a lot of fruity notes. I specifically picked up watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe. There was a white tea note after a few sniffs as well. The taste was all fruit and very little else. Watermelon jumped out first, then honeydew and then went into citrus. I didn’t pick up any tea, which was disappointing. The pomegranate came through at the end, along with some grains. Simple syrup was present as well The body was on the thicker side, despite the ABV and had lots of carbonation. The finish was quick with simple syrup and fruit. A can of this was $1.67, which came to $.14 per ounce. This beer was alright, but I wish it had more tea in it. It would have helped with the depth of the beer.
