Melovino The Root Cause

I somehow managed to sleep until 9:30 AM today. That’s really odd for me, as I can rarely sleep past 6 AM on most days. I’ve been working like crazy, so I guess I needed the sleep. It’s also incredibly humid out, so sleeping in the air conditioning with the fan going is like heaven. Anyways, this is a mead that I picked up at my local beer store that’s made in New Jersey. Let’s see how it was.

ABV: 14%

Style: Mead

Trivia: According to the meadery website, “Fresh ginger mead made with orange blossom honey from Florida. One of the best feelings in the world is seeing a smile upon a person’s face and knowing that you were the one that put it there. Give someone a hug, a kiss, or simply share a glass of this euphoric pairing of florida orange blossom honey and freshly sliced ginger! Then, when they taste it and smile, you will know, you were the root cause.”

Random: My Bissell Brothers glass is perfect for mead.

The mead poured as a clear, light yellow color. This was a still mead, so there was no carbonation visible. The nose was filled with wildflower honey and some freshly chopped ginger. The taste had an instant booze burn, which was quickly followed up by freshly chopped ginger. After a few sips, some wildflower honey came through. The body was on the thicker side with no carbonation. It had a sticky and lengthy finish with ginger. I picked this up for $18.99, which came to $1.12 per ounce. I thought this was a good mead, but the ginger was overwhelming.
