Pipeworks Lucky Cat

Whenever I see a cat themed beer, something inside me forces me to purchase it.

ABV: 8%

Style: American Pale Ale

Trivia: According to the beerconnoisseur website, “~Lucky Cat~~ strawberry & hibiscus flowers beer ~ Yes, the lucky cat is lucky. There’s a slim chance that holding one of these bottles may bring you good fortune, beauty, and all the happiness. We can’t guarantee all that – but we can guarantee that this Lucky Cat will bring you deliciousness! Available in The Dojo Friday 6/1. Seeing Shelves Monday”

Random: Yes, the lack of correct formatting above drives me nuts. I’m sure it has nothing to do with me being a type A virgo.

This beer poured with a thinner, one finger, tan head. It dissipated quickly and left no lacing on the glass. The body was dark brown with a reddish tint. There was moderate carbonation visible. The nose was a combination of strawberries along with pine hops, which didn’t seem to be a good mix to me. The taste was more floral. The hibiscus came through first with some strawberry air freshener that was quickly followed with pine cleaner and grass along with some orange citrus. I think it was a personal preference thing, but the flavor just didn’t jive with me. The body was on the thicker side, which didn’t help things. It did have generous carbonation. The finish was lengthy with citrus and hibiscus. I picked this bottle up for $9.99, which came to $.45 per ounce. I wanted to like this beer so much, it just wasn’t my thing.
