When I was a kid, I had regular Nintendo and there was a game called “Kid Icarus.” I remember the game being ridiculously hard and I couldn’t even get through the first level.
Style: American IPA
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Don’t Just Stand for Something Great, Brew It. Our mission is to cultivate a line of craft beer that will be beloved by beer lovers in Lakewood and the greater Ocean County area. This will be achieved by creating a much needed destination for craft beer lovers to gather. Our taproom will cater to new drinkers as well as those drinkers with more sophisticated palates, providing an experience in both beer and brewing. Our customers can expect a wide variety of hand crafted beers on rotating taps always inspiring with something new as well as taking inspiration from our community.”
Random: I can’t believe this is my first review for Icarus. I’m slacking on expanding my Jersey brew horizons.
The beer poured with a half a finger of white head that dissipated quickly. It left minimal lacing on the glass. The body was hazy and bright orange with little carbonation visible. The nose had a lot of citrus with some grapefruit and watermelon rind apparent. I didn’t pick up any malt. The taste had a bit more depth with grapefruit pith and grass and some watermelon rind that gave the beer a little tartness. The body was on the medium side of the style with a lot of carbonation. It had a quick finish with grapefruit. I thought this was a decent beer, but it didn’t floor me. I’ll be looking out for some other Icarus beers to try, though.
