Tonight’s selection is from Dogfish Head. I haven’t had a beer from them in awhile.
Style: American IPA
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “The truth is, Dogfish Head has been doing innovative things in the world of hopping since we opened in the mid-90s. From our continual hopping method found in our 60 Minute, 90 Minute and 120 Minute IPAs to our latest innovation of post-boil hop additions found in our Liquid Truth Serum! Our unique process involving pelletized, powdered, leaf and liquefied hops makes for a blissfully inefficient IPA that’s truthfully hoppy without being deceptively bitter. You’ll find the perfect match of citrusy and tropical notes, making for a zesty finish … honest.”
Random: This is a year-round release that comes in at 65 IBUs.
The beer poured with a one and a half finger white head. It dissipated at a moderate pace. It left some lacing on the glass. The body was bright yellow and slightly hazy. The nose started with a lot of tropical fruit. I picked up pineapple, mango and guava. There was some grass as well. The taste was filled with citrus and tropical fruit. I picked up grapefruit along with pineapple, mango and guava. There was some booze that was apparent. The body was on the heavier side with a lot of carbonation. It had a sticky and lengthy finish with tropical fruit. I picked up a pounder can for $3, which came to $.19 per ounce. I thought this beer was pretty good, but not amazing. I wouldn’t refuse one if it was handed to me, thought.
