Foreign Objects Glass Candle Grenades

Sometimes, I just pick up beers because the packaging is pretty. I know that I shouldn’t, but I just can’t help myself.

ABV: 7.1%

Style: American IPA

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “In this New-American Hoppy Ale the undeniable flavors and olfactory sensations of tropical citrus, peach-nectar and sweet lime burst and explode from the combination of Motueka, Centennial, and Simcoe hops. Obscure as we are, a glass candle has shown us the way. This is the sound of inspiration!!”

Random: This beer is available in cans and on draft.

This beer poured with a one finger, relatively loose, pure white head. It dissipated at a moderate pace and left some lacing on the glass. The body was very hazy and bright orange. Due to the cloudiness, there was no carbonation visible. The nose started with grapefruit flesh and pith and quickly went into a green herbal note. I picked up cilantro and mint. It also had a green onion note that I wasn’t a huge fan of. The taste started with some fruit. I specifically picked up fresh peaches and some grapefruit, but then the herbal and vegetal notes took over. The green onion note was dominant and not my favorite. Chives came through too. I also picked up some pineapple as well. The body was on the thicker side with generous carbonation. It had a lengthy finish with green onions and chives. I picked this can up for $6.99, which came to $.44 per ounce. I wanted to like this beer, but I’m not a big fan when IPAs go so vegetal. I wouldn’t have this one again, especially given the pricetag.
