Lagunitas Super Cluster

It was really cold here the past few weeks, to the point that I had to wear long johns and even a jacket. My warehouse isn’t heated, but luckily, it stayed in the 50s. Even so, I had to wear a hat all day at work. At least I work in a warehouse that I can wear jeans in. I’ve never been a suit person. Anyways, this beer was picked up at Cranbury Buy Rite. It’s a rotating offering from Lagunitas that I had seen on shelves, but heard very little about. Let’s see how it was.

ABV: 8%

Style: American Double/Imperial IPA

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Super Cluster is a Citra-Hopped Mega Ale of intergalactic proportions. Everything we’ve learned about making hop-forward beer: Pale, cold, alcoholic, and bitter.”

Random: This beer comes in at 60 IBUs. It’s available on draft and in cans.

This beer poured with a one finger, white head. It dissipated at a moderate pace, leaving some lacing on the glass. The body was a golden-yellow color and slightly cloudy. There was light carbonation visible. The nose was all citrus. I picked up grapefruit and tangerine, primarily. The taste was also citrus forward. I picked up grapefruit, tangerine and orange rind. It had some mango notes as well. There was a malt sweetness as well. The body on the lighter side with a lot of carbonation. The finish was quick with citrus. This was a crisp, flavorful beer that hid the alcohol well. I would have this one again.
