I didn’t realize until I looked up this brewery that they were contract brewing for distribution purposes. I guess that makes sense, since when I first heard about them, their output was super low.
Style: American Double/Imperial IPA
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Our large batch beer: Fat Orange Cat Brew Co. is a member of a collective called Twelve Percent Beer Project. This enables us to use our small brew system here on site as a beer test kitchen, constantly offering new beers. We partner and contract brew on a large scale with Twelve Percent, enabling us to brew and distribute on a much larger scale while maintaining the small and intimate experience here at the brewery.”
Random: Our kitten, Sorachi just turned one. I guess he’s not a kitten anymore.
This beer poured with a two finger, pure white head. It dissipated at a moderate pace and left a generous amount of lacing on the glass. The body was hazy and bright yellow with no visible carbonation. The nose started with a lot of tropical fruit, specifically mango and pineapple and then went into orange juice and a slight banana note. The taste was much of the same, which isn’t a dig on it by any means. I got even more tropical fruit with pineapple and mango and then orange juice and some grapefruit pith. There was a touch of bready malt at the end of the sip. The alcohol was hidden, making this an easy drinker. It had a lengthy finish with orange and mango. I enjoyed this beer a lot and would definitely have it again.
