3 Floyds LazerSnake

I’ve been spending more time in Pennsylvania lately and one of the more exciting things that happened around Philly Beer Week is that they are getting in beers from 3 Floyds. I think because the market is getting more competitive every day, we’re starting to see some distribution from breweries that would never send beer here a few years ago. I’m definitely excited to get their beers with more frequency. It took a business trip out to Ohio for me to try their libations 3 years ago.

ABV: 7%

Style: American IPA

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “LazerSnake is a good old-fashioned Indiana Pale Ale. Special Bavarian hops and Indiana malt give LazerSnake its smooth non-filtered appeal to all craft beer and macro enthusiasts.”

Random: This beer comes in at 55 IBUs.

The beer poured with a one finger, white head. It dissipated at a moderate pace and left very little on the glass. The body was a slightly cloudy yellow with a decent amount of carbonation visible. The nose was almost like a throwback IPA. I picked up lots of pine with a touch of caramel malt. There was some grass as well. The taste was much of the same. It had a lot of pine sap and grass to it. There was some sweetness from the caramel malt as well. The body was on the medium side for thickness with a lot of carbonation. It had a lengthy finish with pine sap. I thought this was a good beer and it went down easily. It didn’t pull any punches, but I would definitely have it again.

Untappd Rating: 3.5/5.0
