This was the second beer that I tried at Memphis Taproom. I hadn’t tried any beers from them and the glass was absolutely adorable. After consulting Google Maps, this brewery is about a half hour from my mother in law’s house, so I see a visit coming in my near future. They also feature snacks from the Drunk Alpaca. My mother in law has given us some things from there and they’ve been outstanding, so I’m super excited. Anyways, let’s get to the beer.
Style: American Pale Ale
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “The Hop Collective is an exploration and education in hops.”
Random: On their website, they have a section of the beer menu called “Bottles and Cans Just Clap Your Hands.” I love a good reference to a Beck song.
The beer poured with a barely there, pure white head. It dissipated quickly and left no lacing on the glass. The body was cloudy and bright yellow-orange in color. There was still a lot of carbonation visible, despite the cloudiness. The nose was filled with tropical fruit. Specifically, I picked up mango, passionfruit and pineapple. There was also a note of lime as well. The taste started with cilantro and lime flesh. It quickly transitioned into lime rind and the same tropical fruit that was apparent in the nose. I picked up freshly cut mango, pineapple and apricot. The body was on the light side with lot of carbonation. It had a quick finish with tropical fruit. I really enjoyed this beer. It was an easy drinker that I would definitely have again.
