The breaking news today is affair-oriented website, “Ashley Madison” has been hacked and the hackers are threatening to release the personal information of the people registered. Their users are basically freaking out because people will find out they are having (or attempting to have) an affair. I’m not into judging people, but isn’t there always a risk of that when you register for a website that markets itself on setting people up to have affairs? Before I get start on my soapbox, let’s talk about this beer.
Style: Belgian Pale Ale
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “The Blond Bink was the first beer to flow from the kegs in 1988. This drinking beer with a really hoppy character is the perfect thirst-quencher. The ingredients are: two types of malt, two types of Belgian hops, brewing water and yeast. Our Blond Bink is a refreshing and easily digestible beer with a hoppy nose and an aftertaste of bitterness. The alcohol content of this powerful Bink: 5.5% alc./vol.”
Random: The alarm at my job was malfunctioning and I’m still hearing ringing from it going off.
This brew poured with a one finger, white head that dissipated quickly with no lacing left on the glass. It did leave a crown on top of the cloudy, orange body. There was moderate carbonation visible, despite the cloudiness. The nose presented with wheat, orange and yeast. It had some Belgian spice as well. The taste had a lot of bread notes with orange. It had a ton of biscuit flavors, coriander and orange. The end of the sip had bitterness that manifested as earthy and grassy. The body was thick and chewy with light carbonation and could have been an old bottle. The finish was long and yeasty. This was $4.99 for the bottle, which broke down to $.42 per ounce. For that price, I could get a much better example of the style that I enjoyed more. Due to the price, I won’t be having it again.
